I can’t even put into words how beautiful this was. This has been something radically powerful, the beginning of a true transformative moment for me.

When we are deep in burnout it can be difficult to believe that life can feel any different. But recovery is possible, and not only that, but burnout can become a catalyst for deep, personal transformation if we know how to navigate the experience.

Step away and into held space, tailored to your personal burnout recovery journey.

Ideal for solo retreatants or pairs, spend between a couple of hours to a full day adventuring in a mixture of healing practices including...

Creative coaching. Rites of passage. Nature connection. Grief tending. Movement medicine. And more.

Presencing.

I am a coach with over 10 years of experience in facilitating human processes that bring us into true presence with ourselves and each other. Out of our experiences of being deeply witnessed, perhaps for the first time in what feels like forever, can come the courage to bring forth what truly wishes to be born within us.

Ritual and Ceremony.

These intuitive and creative expressions, used by humans since the beginning of our existence, free us from our thinking minds, enabling us to access the deepest and wisest parts of ourselves. Rites of passage can be the anchors that many of us have found to be missing as we seek to navigate the challenges presented to us in our journey through life.

Grief Tending.

In grief tending— tending to our grief as we would lovingly tend a garden— we break open rather than trying to hold it all together. We are put back together differently, more expansively. The cracks are still there, but now the light can shine through again. My grief tending training lineage includes Joanna Macy and Malidoma Somé.

Nature Connection.

In Earth Calling sessions we come back home to the land, to our home, our original birthplace. We learn how to reconnect deeply with that which sustains all life; the more-than-human world, one of our greatest allies in all we hope to realise in life.

Energy Medicine.

I am trained in Reiki, which is a Japanese practice to unblock and rebalance energy. We might also delve into dream or waking vision work, explore gentle movement, such as dance, or draw on singing and storytelling to release what might feel stuck within us.

All retreats include a mixture of self-guided time to rest, reflect and journal, and some facilitated time with me. The balance between those two things we can work out together depending on what you need at that time.

About Me

Hi, I’m Jo Musker-Sherwood (she/her); culture worker, mother, activist, and deeply feeling human.

For six years I set up and ran a national climate change charity here in Sheffield before burning out and eventually coming to inner work as a new form of activism. Now, I work with activists all around the world who want to deepen their offerings in the world by working for healing from the inside out. You can read a bit more about my journey with that here.

More recently I have felt a pull to hold more in person, place based offerings, and to work with anyone, whether they explicitly identify as an activist or otherwise. Sheffield is a wonderful city full of wonderful people.

If you’re struggling with burnout, wanting to make a major life change, or simply in need of a little top up, it would be my joy to craft a retreat personally tailored to you.

These are not therapy retreats and I am not a trained therapist. Instead, I will come alongside you to support your own healing, discernment and resting processes. Some of my areas of expertise include; social justice, activism & liberation work, motherhood, grief and loss, neurodivergence, and spiritual exploration.

Held in a garden cabin with full heat and light, just moments from Bole Hill Park. Delicious veggie lunch included. Find out more about me, my training and approach here.

Offered on a sliding scale. Get in touch below for more information.

My Training Lineage

I am familiar with both Christian and Buddhist ways of meaning making in the world, having completed a six month spiritual growth and transformation course with the Diocese of Sheffield, and a week long intensive training at Plum Village in embodied Buddhism, specifically in relation to environmental work. I am trained to offer the Japanese energy healing practice, Reiki, which also heavily influences my work alongside ancient spiritual practices such as dreamwork, folklore, myth and legend, and ritual.

My grief tending training lineage includes an apprenticing to grief training with Sophie Banks, who herself trained under Malidoma and Subonfu Somé; spiritual teachers from the Dagara Tribe in Burkina Faso. I am also heavily influenced by Active Hope at the work of eco-philosopher and activist Joanna Macy.

I am trained as a nature connection facilitator with the fabulous Change in Nature, and some of my other trainings include coaching with The Coaching Academy, authentic relating with ART International, charity leadership with NCVO, and Internal Family Systems with the IFS Institute.
